Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

No food at Bosque Brewery. There are, however, a whole bunch of respectable-and-better places to get food close by. I'd try this one, were I you. All you have to do is jog down a half-block west and walk in. Order at the counter, tell 'em you're at Bosque. They'll deliver in 25 - 45 minutes. Have another beer while you wait. We did this twice. First night, got a standard tomato sauce topped with cheese, onions, green chilis and ... sausage, I think. It was good, but Dan (Dan!) picked off all the onions. What's up with that? (Dan!) Next night we did a Margherita - white sauce, basil and tomatoes. It was good, better than most Margheritas. Not my favorite, but very good. Pretty good value at $20 for a large, very-thin-but-yummy crust pizza that fed three men well. Go there.

I happened by while in the area. The Garden Salad was huge and the staff is friendly . The small pizza was big and had really good flavor. It needed a few more minutes in the oven.

For those of you who have never had New York thin crust style pizza, this is it in Las Cruces, NM! Absolutely awesome. And don't forget they use the correct cheese too!

Great pizza at a reasonable price located right off campus. While not up to New York par, Zeffiro's made it feel like the Big Apple was a lot closer than 2,000 miles. The pies are large with a thick layer of cheese. It did air on the salty side, but with pizza that's hard to avoid. I would definitely return if ever back in town. I recommend you do as well.

Really really really good pizza!! The manager was super nice and the place well organized and clean. I'D deFiniTely Come back

I dig the pizza here. Fresh, and consistent over the years. It's my favorite pizza spot in town.
(4)Ruth H.
We ordered a Greek pizza and pepperoni pizza. If you want small portions get the slice deal. Otherwise their pizza's are big. The pepperoni was a bit salty and they forgot my side salad. Had to remind them about it. Other than that, I would eat here again. The service is very relaxed.

Best pizza in Las Cruces, NM. You've got to try their sausage and jalapeno pizza. It's killer. The staff is also awesome. It's like visiting family everytime we go. Thanks guys! Keep up the great job.

Perhaps I shouldn't drag my Houston high standards with me wherever I travel. Particularly not to small cities in the hinterland. For sure not to small cities in the New Mexican desert but hey, Las Cruces is a university town. I just pity the poor students who have to be subjected to Zeffiro's. When I hear "New York Pizzeria" I think of the several in the Houston area that use terrific fresh ingredients even when your just getting a giant slice. That's a slice that comes from an already cooked crust that is made with only a light coating of sauce and cheese. You get whatever you want put on it after you order it. Not the case at Zeffiro's. You get a slice of old completely made up pizza and you can only choose the ingredients they have. Yuck. Then I ordered a spinach salad with italian dressing and feta crumbs. More than 70% of the spinach leafs were either rotten or starting to get there fast. It looked like it was made last week. The dressing, of course, came from a bottle in the back. At least the feta seemed ok. No mold anyway. Maybe I should rethink the 2 stars.

Who would of thought one could get New York style pizza in Las Cruces? Delicious without being heavy.

This review is in two parts - first the food. Pizza was okay. Not as good as the average NY pizzeria (I spent 18 years in NY), but good enough for a town in New Mexico. The sauce was bland and there wasn't enough of it on the Pizza to balance the other flavors. Toppings were nothing special and the crust was bland, needed more salt. What lost this place the other two stars is included below. Zeffiro's, is apparently anti-military. Now some folks might consider that great and support the place, but I figured I should let out of town folks (like myself) know. I asked about a military discount, which I didn't expect but asked about and would have been perfectly fine had the clerk simply said 'no'. Instead the clerk said, "No way, that stuff ain't cool." Now I don't think I have a right to a discount anywhere I go, that's for a business proprietor to decide. I do believe that I deserve not to be judged regarding my choice to serve my country. I had hungry kids to feed (who I hadn't seen for a month) or I would have taken my business elsewhere.

I was looking for somewhere cheap and delicious to grab lunch and my boss recommended this spot. Located directly across the street from NMSU campus, this place was busy and quick. I ordered a calzone - which was huge and delicious. It was a little on the burned side, but I prefer that to undercooked doughy crust. I only finished half and took the other half home. My only recommendation? Perhaps more regular cleaning and tidying in the dining area would improve the overall feeling.

Surprisingly, Las Cruces has good pizza in town. What was strange was that their was no place to get a slice near campus until this place came through. This being my favorite of the pizza places in town. Big slices with a oven that manages to get a really good char on the slides yet maintain the slices' chewability. Two slices and a drink for about $5 for lunch? Great deal. (although they could make the drink a wee bit bigger) They always rotate the slice of the day and there are some interesting marriages on those slices. Never got their white pie and I should have.

I was born and raised in NYC and LOVE my pizza. This is the closest thing to NY pizza we can get in the Las Cruces / El Paso area. I live in El Paso and work in Las Cruces from time to time, I ALWAYS pick up a pie to go for dinner. Hands down this is the best pizza around.
(5)Lizzie M.
Great pizza and salads! Super friendly staff and good beer selection. I like this place ;) and they have yummy tarts from local bakery , le Rendez-vous Cafe
(4)Damacio U.
Great lunch specials and very tasty pizza. The white pizza was a good choice. Obviously popular, very busy during lunch. Will be back.

I'm a sucker for local businesses...and I love the pizza and salad combo of Zeffiros. I like coming to this location on University for a more casual, less expensive grab and go. Pizza is fantastic!
(5)Jamie B.
Not up to the quality of the downtown Zeffiro's, this is still probably the best place to grab a slice of pizza near NMSU. Having said that, however, when we went there, we ordered a meatball sub, which the guys behind the counter told us would "take a few minutes to make," and then they completely forgot to make it. Twenty minutes later, we asked, "Is that meatball sub ready yet?" And they were like, "what meatball sub?" Now, to be fair, we did get that part of our meal comped, but for Jeebus's sake, it's a pizza counter--how hard is it to take an order and make a meatball sub?

We went to the Zeffiro Pizzeria on Water Street today for lunch, but we HAVE been to this location previously. The pizza is very good, but the location doesn't offer the same kind of atmosphere as the Water Street location.

Yes, this is real NY pizza in Las Cruces, NM. I grew up in NY and the pizza I remember is a lot like the pizza here. The crust is thin and crispy and the sauce is spicy and cheesy. Seems like they do a big take-out business, but there are several tables inside where it is cool, on two levels. One TV with the sound off is not intrusive. This place is right across from the University and caters to students. You order at the window and they bring the pie to your table. There are two sizes, 16" and 20" and the usual choices of toppings. They also have a white pie with no tomato sauce, which seems popular. The fellows behind the counter were friendly and seemed to be enjoying their work.

My husband had been to both downtown and university locations and claimed that the university location was far better and that the other one was not up to par. So..i was pretty excited about trying some of this pizza! we went in on a sunday morning to order two large pies for football at our home. we ordered pepperoni and a "works" type. They were both delicious. The service was great, two young gentleman behind the counter, sometimes when you go to eat and there are young people working, the service usually suffers due to immaturity and just you know how "kids" are. lol. but they were very friendly and professional. will be going back plenty! thanks!

I grew up eating New York pizza and I can say that this pretty good pizza.
(4)Scott J.
I will definitely go again. I went here for lunch at about 11:15 on a Tuesday. It was very quiet when I arrived, but by about 11:45, business had picked up. I had the slice and salad (with a small drink) for $4.95. The slices are cut generously, and are usually $2.35 each. I chose mushroom and olive, which was very good. The slice of the day was mushroom and green chile. The location is small, with a small upstairs seating area in addition to the main level. The bathrooms are clean. Small (16") pizzas average $13, while large (20") pizzas average $16. Calzones are $7.95 - I'm looking forward to trying that in the future.
(5)Robyn R.
Such great pizza! My family is from New Jersey and my dad loves it!! Good prices and LARGE pizza's. Even has a white pizza. The seating area is a bit small but we often get it for take out.
(5)Ashleigh Q.
Went here for the first time last night, and we WILL be back. The Pizza reminds me of real NY pizza, a feat many boast but few actually have. The staff was amazing, we got our order in quickly, got our drinks, and sat down. After chatting for less than 2 mins a guy came out and offered us refills and told us our pizza would be ready soon. Its rare to see places where you have to return to the counter for the drink refills come out and take care of you like that! Our pizza was amazing, we got a pie with pepperoni and mushroom and were ecstatic over it. The sauce is just right, and with just the right amount, the mushrooms and peperoni were flavorful, and the crust was PERFECT! And there was almost no grease! Seriously, how rare is it that your plates don't turn orange from grease from the pizza you eat!
(5)Scott S.
Good brick oven pizza, decent prices. The small drinks are just that, very small. Otherwise, I could barely eat the two slices I ordered. It's right across campu too, so the "views" can be good!
(4)Nick R.
I have mixed feelings about this location. It is right by the university and the prices are pretty reasonable for students. They have real tasty, real large pizza slices and decent service. The flavor did not, however, hold up to the downtown mall location, which pretty much makes the best pizza ever!! Also, the green chili tasted like it came out of a can. That sort of thing is sloppy for a LC establishment. All things considered, it is a good place for NMSU students/faculty to get a slice for lunch or a quick dinner, but I would suggest the downtown mall location for a knockout meal.
(4)Ashley P.
I went here for lunch. The pizza was great, really flavorful. Thin crust with the right balance of cheese and toppings. The prices were really reasonable, I had two pieces of pepperoni pizza and a large soda for less than $6. My only complaint about this place was the people working there. There were four dudes behind the counter and they were all entirely unpleasant. I was trying to pay with my Amex (there was an American Express sticker on the cash register) and the guy was really rude when he told me that they didn't take Amex and stared blankly when I pointed out the sticker. Food, great. Employees, not so much.

I stopped by Zeffiro's for lunch a couple days ago and was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful place in town. The pizza was the best I have ever had, the price was very good and the customer service was stellar. The young man helping us ( Wayne ?) was patient, knowledgeable and very helpful with my indecision. He helped me pick a great slice of pizza. I will be going back and telling all my friends about it.
(5)MissAnn T.
As a displaced New Yorker, I was far from impressed by this place. The mozzarella tasted old, they have no idea that ricotta belongs on a NY style white pizza, the meatballs were sliced thin and tasted like imitation sausage. I will never, ever eat here again. They don't even hand toss, but use a machine to flatten the dough. The dough was about the only edible part of their pizza. If you're from the Northeast, be prepared to be disappointed when you go here.

I went tonight for the first time and will go back again. Has a slice of the day which was meatball and green chili. The slice was huge and I got a salad and it was large portion as well. There is lots of seating on two levels as well as outside. This place for me is a hit and as good at their other place downtown. The food is not the same and a fun place to go with group of friends for casual meal.
(5)Billy M.
This is the best pizza in town. I eat there for lunch it's a quick drive from the University.
(5)Carl J.
Love me a local pizza place! Cannot stand overhead fluorescent lighting! We were driving through town and stayed at a crappy motel nearby. After a day on the road and far fewer comforts than home, getting out for some local pie sounded a perfect idea. And it was! The kid behind the counter seemed happy to have us there and stoked to share the pizza. Seriously... Try to find another college kid working at a pizza place in a small desert town who is this friendly and helpful. Remarkable! (Seriously, we discussed it several times) We asked for a suggestion on what to order and everyone behind the counter had a fantastic-sounding pizza in mind. We went with a well-priced white pie with prosciutto and sundried tomato. No regrets! I definitely recommend this place! I also recommend a little more ambiance... but I'm pretty picky in that department. Mmmm...pizza...
(4)Sue S.
Pizza is great but crust is always a little over done and they lack on the cheese a bit . Think they need an update on quality control. Other location doesn't have this issue.
(3)Jen J.
Tried this place on Tuesday, and I'd love to give it 5 stars, because the pizza was really yummy, but it's lacking in a few key places. But first, the good stuff: * Really tasty New York style pizza that really is New York style pizza. Lots of places say they are, but aren't! * Good prices. I ordered their special, which is 2 slices and a small drink for $4.99. The slices are HUGE so that's a really good deal in my opinion! * Cute atmosphere. It has a very new, clean feeling and I like how open it is with the upstairs seating. Simple but cute decor. The not-so good stuff: * Super small, non-refillable drinks. * When you order from their by-the-slice menu, they don't reheat the slice before serving it to you. That meant both of my slices were luke warm instead of nice and bubbling hot. I kicked myself for not asking them to stick it back into the oven for a minute, but then I just read someone else's review that said they won't do that anyway. I guess it's "against their policy." How lame is that!?

Just a quick little review for this awesome little pizza spot. My wife and I were out for a walk and decided to pop into Ziffiro's for a quick slice to see if it was any good. Boy was it! And cheap too. $2.50 for a single slice, and being that it is New York style pizza, the slices are pretty generous. The prices are great, the pizza is great, the guys tossing the dough were nice and polite. I usually don't review places based on a five-minute experience, but if a place can make me say "wow!" in those five minutes, then they deserve a mention. We will definitely be back to sample more of what they have to offer. And I gotta say, $2.50 for a pizza, and $3 for a latte at the Starbucks around the corner make for a really cheap date. ;)

I've actually eaten pizza in New York, this stands up pretty close to the fabled Grimaldi's (the one underneath the Brooklyn Bridge, not the Scottsdale one). It's not exactly the same, but it's pretty damned close. White pizza is good, but not one of my favorites, anywhere. I'm a big fan of the huge, floppy slices of red sauced pizza. With pepperoni, or veggies. The only way I could think of to improve is to use fresh mozzarella instead of the pre-shredded stuff they use now. Well, that, and green chile. Leave it off. I don't want to have a discussion about the verisimilitude of having green chile on a New York pizza vs. charming regionalism. Just leave it off the menu. In Las Cruces we put green chile on stuff whether it belongs there or not. I find it overwhelms the pizza (and sushi and lasagna and beer and wine and whatever other ethnically incongruous food someone is putting it in right now) I've never had any issues with service being slow, and really, one time the soda was kinda flat, and small drinks are TINY. But whatevs, this is a pizza oasis. Seems like previous reviewers have trouble understanding the different aesthetics between the downtown location and the university location and try to compare, apples to oranges. I will take a big New York slice of this right now. I enjoy both locations for what they are: great pizza in a town that has too long been dominated by crappy delivery pizza. (As a side note, they are open reasonably early for lunch on Sundays, which, if one was theoretically hungover, would make this a blessing to have. I have never touched the demon rum myself, and know this only from listening to whiskey-wrecked sailors and other unsavory sorts.)
(4)Clifton L.
Went here based on reviews, and did not disappoint. Had two slices, pepperoni and meatball with green chili. Solid New York style pizza.
(4)E M.
So good! I'm now going to be having their pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner, every day, forever. Awesome food. Good people working there. Fast service. I used the Eat24 app to place my order and when I drove up 30 min later my food was ready for pick up. You don't eat gluten (even though you don't actually have celiac disease) or you haven't eaten bread in 15 years in an effort to still fit into your pants? Pfft! Stop that! Because you are missing out on some super bien mouthwatering pizza pie!
(5)Katy J.
I love NYC style pizza and this place is spot on right here in southern New Mexico. I'd pick NYC style from here over all other pizza in this area any day of the week. NYC pizza with its thin crust and fold-over friendly shape is the best and this place knows what it is doing. I am absolutely not into the style of pizza or restaurant experience of the other site. Give me this place or no pizza at all. I agree with a reviewer who suggested they use fresh mozzarella instead of shredded. That would put their pies over the moon. Our favorite is the white pie. We did not receive fresh basil sprinkled over the top the last time we picked up a pizza. I'm really hoping this was a mistake because the fresh basil is a must. Our preferred way to get pizza from here is to go--so we've never had to deal with a service or waiting issue (I would wait. The white pie is worth it). We just put the box in insulated bags and dash home. We love to put a handful of baby arugula on a slice of the white pizza after zesting it up with red pepper flakes and parmesan, fold it over, and enjoy. Nom. Nom. Yum. The nuttiness of the baby arugula compliments the white pie perfectly. I don't know how I ever ate white pies without arugula before I learned of the practice.

Since rumor has it the downtown location is actually better we will have to try it sometime. Looking at their web-site it is clear they are doing different styles of pizza at their different locations (for good reason) However, this is a review of their place on University which obviously has a much smaller more take out oriented menu. The stromboli we had were wonderful, very tasty and really too big for one person. This is the style of pizza as we remember being able to get in those small family run places before everything seemed to go to chain pizza places and it is so much better. Fairly small parking area could be a minus at times but the outside seating is nice as MrB himself was welcome. It will certainly be a regular choice for us since it isn't too far from home, allows dogs on the patio space and has darn good pizza.
